So how about that Harry Potter! I finished the book two days ago, but I'm collecting my thoughts on it now. I have to get my opinions in before the people reading it tonight or tomorrow just on principle.

A random assortment of music for you:

Near Fantastica by Matthew Good
Say It Right (remix) by Nelly Furtado Featuring Jay Vega
Hero In Mid-Range Part 1 and Part 2 by Mr. Skurge Khingass
Hot Soft Light by The Hold Steady
React by Jaylib
The Crunge by Led Zeppellin

I'm going to a midnight release party with my dad tonight, even though I've already read the book. I read the first Harry Potter book when I was eleven--I remember really clearly because I was the same age as Harry was in the book, and I remember thinking that was really neat. We read the books aloud as a family--well, mostly my dad read them to us, because my dad is just a really good read-out-loud-er. That might sound like an odd talent to have, but he just has a really great voice and he does all the characters' voices and accents really well and knows how to create drama and tension with his voice. I can't reread the books without hearing my dad's voice in my head (same with LotR--I love the movies, but Gandalf sounds like my dad instead of Ian McKellan when I imagine him). I don't think we read OotP or HBP aloud as a family--with OotP I was too impatient, and when HBP came out I had moved out of the house and didn't get around to reading it until six months after it came out. Now I'm back with my family and I'm really hoping my dad will be up for reading the last one aloud with at least me, if no one else in the family is interested. It feels right.
