So, hey, you should watch Deep Kick by
absolutedestiny. It's not exactly a fannish vid; I've never seen or heard of the source material. The vidder describes this as being how he remembers his teen years, and even though I didn't go through anything remotely like what this vid is about, I think the feelings in this vid are pretty universal to anyone who's ever been young.
I'm fascinated by this vid not just because it's a great vid, but because I'm a sucker for anything that melds the fannish and the personal (see, um, a really big chunk of the fic I've written this year), and this is a genre of vid that I don't think I've seen before, really. Well, Women's Work in SPN was similar in that it was sort of beyond fannish, but that was more of a statement about the world and the show than a statement about the artists who created the vid, I felt. Watching Deep Kick started to give me my own ideas about more personal projects, hm.
