Lately insomnia's been kind of kicking my ass, which is probably my own fault considering the amount of coffee in my system at all times, so I made myself a little mix to assist me on the road to dreamland. Music to act as a karate chop to the neck of my insomnia, if you will. At least now if I can't sleep, I have some smooth tunes to entertain my mind as I lay awake staring at the ceiling.

Tracks:

1. Black Star- Thieves In The Night
2. Her Space Holiday- Japanese Gum
3. Thin Lizzy- Saga of the Aging Orphan
4. Seu Jorge- Fiore De La Citta
5. Billie Holiday- Autumn In New York
6. Thelonius Monk- Round Midnight
7. Fiona Apple- I Know
8. Jay-Z- Can't Knock The Hustle
9. Spirited Away soundtrack- Train Ride
10. The Streets- Weak Become Heroes
11. Iron & Wine- Fever Dream
12. Miles Davis- Blue In Green
13. The Decemberists- On The Bus Mall
14. John Lee Hooker- I Cover The Waterfront

In the department of things that make me deeply irate, why is it that in this modern age of technology and wonder, laundry machines still *only* accept payment in quarters? Man, I don't even need to be able to use my credit card, I would find it extraordinarily helpful even if a machine just accepted other coins or dollar bills. Why hasn't anyone fixed this yet? So. Stupid.

Hard out here for a pimp: [livejournal.com profile] bandom_primers! It's the bee's knees, people. Check it out.

Lastly, I know I did an Intro-to-Zee post a few months ago, but that was right after I started getting into bandom and I feel like I've seen a lot of new people around here since then. But, uh, I'm way too lazy to write up another post like that, so I'm going the route of asking new folks (or old folks who are nevertheless dying to know something, hey) to ask me questions. Ask me anything you're even remotely curious about! I'll do my best to respond to each one, really. (If one of your questions is 'Do you suck at answering comments?' the answer is 'yes. *grovels*')

I loved your pimpage post and the sex pollen fic :-)
What's up at the moment is an unfortunate obsession with Spencer Smith. It is taking me over *sigh*. Give me back my brain, Spencer.

The laundry machines in my apartment complex take credit card. I think I cried tears of joy when I found that out.

Apparently we have some weird place near us where you put money on a card. I haven't been there yet, as six days is not enough laundry to need to go to the laundromat yet. Apartmentmate says it is useful. On the other hand, things tend not to go as wrong when it's just coins, and with quarters everyone has to do exact change. Basically it's lower maintenance for the place. Bleh.

Mmm, music. When I really can't sleep, I listen to the Neil Gaiman Audio Collection, because nothing is quite so soothing as nice man with a British accent reading children's stories. It's like being told bedtime stories all over again, except of course neither of my parents sound remotely like Neil Gaiman. (Of course, this did lead me one night a few weeks ago to start casting a bandom version of The Day I Swapped My Dad for Two Goldfish in my head, but such is life.) Also apparently taking some melatonin an hour or so before bed thing helps as well. *has been knocked out every night this week, and it is glorious*

I HAVE A QUESTION

Why aren't you here in Chicago having sex with me?

Also, why did it take me so many tries to type "question"?

I HAVE AN ANSWER

Because money is the root of all evils :(

Because you can't type :(

WHY AREN'T YOU HERE IN PORTLAND?

BECAUSE PORTLAND IS FAR AWAY AND CHICAGO IS BETTER :D

It drives me crazy. Except that here they don't take quarters (partly because we don't have quarters) they take arcane combinations of $1 coins, 20c coins, and $2 coins. And every time the price goes up, the precise combination of coins changes, meaning that if you went to the bank and got a collecdtion of laundry change in advance, you can't use it for that purpose any more. Also: we don't have change machines in Australia. If you want exact change, you go to the fucking bank during bank hours, and annoy the teller.

Finding the right change for laundry is very possibly my #1 pet peeve.

PS. I am told to tell you that [livejournal.com profile] callsigns sent me.
