Right now it's 'just' about chan fanart, a lot of which I'm really disturbed by, but think about anyone who reads some fic or sees some fanart that they're squicked by hitting that button. Think about any of the number of people who find RPS to be way worse than chan using this--hell, think about Ryland or Vicky T using it! Not to mention how this could affect music sharing or file sharing, which is what I'm more worried about than any Kon/Clark porn that I wrote way back when.
I'm not moving yet because I'm cranky and lazy, and also because I'm skeptical of any of the alternatives being offered: moving to a journal site that has the same TOS as LJ is useless, and I don't think JF is at all the answer to a fan-created service--there's the under 18 policy for one, the lack of robust servers, plus oh hai. I've seen the idea floating around of donating the amount you've been paying for an LJ account to a service started up by fans--about 30 dollars a year for me, ish? maybe? I'll have to find out the exact amount--and I'll be up for that when I have 30 dollars. Hi, overdraft, how's it going?
Bandom seems to be entirely on LJ at the moment, so this is where I'm staying for now, but I'm keeping my website updated and my ear to the ground.

Yeah, I'm really not, and I'm so, so pissed at myself for believing that LJ really was just well meaning but incompetent. But I have the same reservations about other journaling systems. I don't like feeling like I'm being chased out of somewhere, especially if we're just going to face the same thing all over again in a couple years... rar. I am deeply displeased.

Even if it only sticks with HP fandom, I still would have major problems with it.
Is there even an archive of bandom fic?????

I'm sort of ridiculously fond of insanejournal, but only because it's called INSANEjournal. That's just awesome.
oh, also!
Kinda relevant, and kinda disturbing.
Hey, maybe all of fandom can just donate 30 bucks and we can buy an island!.
