Because I'm always too damn lazy to write up actual concert recaps, I'll just say: if you ever have the chance to see Arcade Fire or LCD Soundsystem live, fucking do it. I drove to a freaking farm in freaking Utah county to see them tonight and the traffic on the way there made me want to kill babies, but it was so beyond worth it. I don't think I've ever been so completely fucking owned by an opener as I was by LCD, especially considering that I hadn't been nuts about the songs of theirs I'd heard before the show. Arcade Fire had about--seven? nine? ish?--performers onstage, and all of them except the two violinists played at least three instruments throughout the thing. There was electric banjo, the aforementioned violins, several horns, an organ, an upright bass, and plenty I'm forgetting. During Keep The Car Running, one of their drummers started drumming on a motorcycle helmet.
It was also in an outdoor venue, so that before the sun set we were looking out at the mountains, and after the sun set there was a full moon. And you know, reading about people getting to see three or four YWT dates because they live in New England or LA and all those dates are so geographically close is tough sometimes; that and many other things make me wish I didn't live practically in the middle of nowhere. But it was just so beautiful tonight, and nowhere else has this for me, and I'm so happy I came back to this state.

Best way I ever blew my money was seeing them at First Unitarian in Philly.
I mean, that was, what, three, four years ago and my mind, it is still blown.
